Powder Puff Games

Frosh vs Sophomores

Juniors vs Seniors

2009/2010  TelegRAMS

The seniors vs. juniors powder puff game was a game to watch. The whole time the crowd was kept on their toes.  The juniors started out fast in the game. “I think my girls were surprised at how fast the juniors really were on the field” said Coach Clay. The Senior Girls were really AMP’D up this being their final Powder Puff game. “I know they really wanted to win. I think they had a hard time controlling their emotions at the start” added Coach. The juniors put up 12 points quick on the seniors and it was not looking good. Coach Clay pulled the girls together to do what he does best “first he yelled at us, telling us we needed to start pulling some flag and that we were being way to aggressive. Then he told us to calm down there was plenty of time left to win” said Dani Clay. The seniors took the ball on their next series and drove it all the way for a TD. “I didn’t know Karli Jacobs was such a beast at running the ball. I know she couldn’t catch a cold, but she did run with power” Coach said. Karli had 3 big runs on that drive to put the seniors in close for a pass from Ally to Tara Cooley for a TD. Tara Cooley scored the extra point to make the score 12-7 juniors. The seniors held the juniors before halftime and that’s where the score was at the half. “I wasn’t nervous at all. Once the girls calmed down and worked out the kinks I knew they would be ready for the second half” said Coach Clay. The seniors came out from halftime ready to finish the game. They took the ball right down the field with big passes from Ally to Lizzette and Dani G. They scored on a play up the middle with Ally making the second touch down, to take the lead 13-12. The juniors came right back and scored making the score 18-13. “They tried to run the clock down as much as they could, but I knew they left us to much time to score.” Added coach. The seniors threw a few short passes to start their final drive. Ally threw a short pass to Tara Cooley across the middle and she sprinted to the sideline. The juniors, maybe thinking she was going out of bounds didn’t get her flag. Tara turned the corner and sprinted 65 yards for a TD to give the seniors a 19-18 lead. The senior’s defense went out onto the field and stopped the juniors with only a minute to play. The seniors took this game very serious and the win was BIG. “I was very surprised by these girls’ hearts. I know plenty of boy’s teams who would just quit after being down 2 TD’s” said Coach Clay. “I tried to go out there and just have fun. But, when the Ref blew the whistle it was Game On and my juices were flowing. I couldn’t help it; I wanted the girls to win as much as they wanted it. I would like to take this time and say Good Luck to all the girls and finish your senior year as hard as you finished this game” The Seniors left the game satisfied and still fired up.

2010 Powderpuff Team
By: Dani Clay

The mighty 2010 girls are coming full force to up hold the tradition of the senior class winning. The girls have been practicing late nights and early mornings wanted to not only win but to really make in impression. The girls this year have a new coach, Coach Clay, and a lot of first year players. Everyone has come out to play. The captains this year are Vanessa Palomino, Tara Cooley, Allie Roberts, Danielle Clay and Danielle Garibaldi. All the girls have high expectations for them selves. They aren’t taking loosing as an option. All they know is that they are going to do whatever it takes to win. Coach Clayis also the coach for three other teams, Jr. Midget and Midget for Dixon Youth and also at Vacaville Christian High School. The girls were in need of a coach and right away thought about Coach Clay. He has a reputation of working his players hard and winning, the perfect coach. Two seniors, Sabrina Lopez and Rebekah Pigozzo, were asked what they thought about the new coach. Sabrina answered “He’s a good coach, he really knows what he’s doing, and he’s really funny.” Rebekah answered “He has a lot of experience, good plays and we really have a good chance of winning with him as our coach.” Sabrina feels that it’s going to be a really good game but the seniors are defiantly going to win. Rebekah thinks its going to be a blow out. One of the captains, Tara Cooley, says “We’re gunna tear it up! We have a new offense, new defense, new coach, new year!” The new coach, Jeff Clay, was asked about how he felt about all the girls and just the whole experience all together. He said “I like to say what a surprise it was to be asked by the senior girls to coach their team. I know most of the girls because my (awesome, beautiful, smart, funny) daughter is also a senior”. [Jeff Clay]  “ When I was approached by Vanessa Palomino, V.I.P. I didn’t have to think long. The girls are great and very athletic [Jeff Clay] “. [Jeff Clay] “The first thing they said to me was “coach we want to win". Not a problem, they also said "last year they ran the ball and they wanted to pass this year" again I said Not a problem". Look for the senior girls to dominate their game through the air. [Jeff Clay] “I have been coaching football a long time and this is my first time with girls. What I found out is teenagers are teenagers, boys or girls; they are all just looking to have a goodtime. Something a lot of us parents forget, we were all just like them.” The girls are focused and ready to take the title. These girls have built the bond that a winning team needs. They depend on each other and want to take the win, as a team.
